Hatha yoga is a basic form of yoga. In hatha yoga the focus is on the postures (asanas) and on the breathing (pranayama). ‘Ha’ means sun, the active and the male energy. ‘Tha’ means moon, the inactive and the female energy. The main goal in hatha yoga is to bring the energy (prana) in balance and while we balance our energy we bring our mind and body in balance too. Hatha yoga is perfect for beginners but also for advanced practitioners. I offer more options so everybody can enjoy the yoga.
Yin yoga is a more relaxed form of yoga. It is a kind of meditative form of movement. In the yin yoga the postures will be hold for over 3 minutes with a maximum of 5 minutes. Yin, in contrary of the active yang, is inactive. In the posture you try to do as inactive as you can by relaxing all the muscles, let go of everything and let the gravity do its work. By doing this you reach the deeper layers in the body (joints, tendons, ligaments, connective tissue). Also the focus will be on energy lines (meridians) in the body. The goal is to balance the energy (qi) in the energy lines and in the body. Everybody can practice yin yoga. Every posture can be made suitable for you so you can fully relax and enjoy the positive effects of the yin yoga.
PRANAYAMA AND MEDITATION
Pranayama is a word from the Sanskrit language. ‘Prana’ means vital energy or life force, ‘ayama’ means controlling or extension. Pranayama is the conscious awareness of the breath and controlling the breath. In the Pranayama/meditation class there will be a focus on Pranayama and meditation practices with variation.
The outdoor location is located at the Beach in West aan Zee. We gather at the entrance of Paviljoen West aan Zee about 10 minutes before the start of the class. Together we will make our way to the location. Yoga class with a beautiful sea view!
Yoga and surf, it’s the perfect combination! Yogiez offers yoga and surf workshops together with GoSurfing Terschelling throughout the summer season. A refreshing, all-day workshop in which we start the day with a cup of coffee or tea at the local beach club of Formerum. After this introduction we will take it to the beach for the yoga class, in which we focus primarily on developing your surf kills. After the yoga class, we will enjoy the pre-arranged lunch, have some time to relax and hang out at the beach before taking on the swell! A professional surf instructor will provide you with the proper guidance – whether you are a beginner or have surfed before. Price: €50. A wonderful, all-day workshop full of yoga on the beach in which we start the day with a cup of tea at Paviljoen West aan Zee. After this we will start with a pranayama and hatha yoga class. After the first yoga session we will enjoy a pre-arranged lunch at Paviljoen West aan Zee. After this, there Will be some free time to relax at the beach, go for a walk or take a refreshing swim in the sea. We will end the day with a relaxing yin yoga class. The classes will be on the deck of the new Paviljoen West aan Zee with an amazing sea view. This workshop will be offered at specific dates during the summer. Exact dates follow soon.
